Guddu Rangeela-Movie review

Guddu Rangeela at work

Guddu Rangeela is directed by Subhash Kapoor. It stars Arshad Warsi, Amit Sadh and Ronit Roy in lead roles.  I was not much impressed with the film. The concept of the movie is good, but the plot and the treatment of the movie is weak. The movie is based in Haryana and deals with the issue of Khap Panchayat and honour killing. Arshad Warsi acting is good, so is Amit Sadh’s. But the show stopper is Ronit Roy, he has acted fabulously and one cannot stop hating him, for ill-treating women.

The story starts in a village in Haryana, where Rangeela (Arshad warsi) and Guddu (Amit Sadh) are small time thugs. They act as informer and do not want to get their hands dirty, by involving themselves in full-fledged crime.  They kidnap Aditi Hydari to extort 10 crores from Billu Pahalwan (Ronit Roy). Arshad and Ronit already are sworn enemies. The movie takes a turn after the kidnapping and makes a time pass watch.

Guy's where is the chemistry??
The problem with the movie is that the topic of Khap  Panchayat  is written and discussed to death. You will keep wondering, how and when the relationship between Baby (Aditi Hydari) and Guddu (Amit Sadh) develops. Similarly Aditi’s hatred for Ronit, should have been elaborated more. The songs are also average. The only saving grace is Ronit, who is growing with each passing movie. Ronit Roy in his avatar of Billu Rangeela, reminds you of his character in Udaan.

Advice
Watch this movie, only when you have surplus time in your hand.
